Charles-Antoine Caron What a great surprise. I never heard this album or about this album before. The sound reminds me of "Rhythm & Sound", "Basic Channel" and "Babe Roots".

I had no idea someone released that kind of sound in Montréal. Or in Canada for that matter. Especially not 20 years ago. This is impressive.

Poirier's first album is finally available on his bandcamp. Originally released in 2001, "Il n'y a pas de Sud..." (in english: "There's no South...") blends broken melodies and sonic slips with a very stripped down version of the berlin techno sound. The result is a sparse blend of rhythm and space with a slow diffused groove as beats flux and vibrate beneath lo-fi oscillations of warm chords and clouds of bass. A deep dive into ambient music and minimal electronic sound.
